STATUS UPDATE
The Tornado Siren in Robertson County is Non-Operational and has been for several years, 3 or more.
The repair including a new post, even is someone showed up physically would be extremely high, more than the cost of buying several new truck's and with only a six month warranty. Yes, grants are available for new installations, not repairs. New Siren Grants come with a enormous match that the county would be responsible for along with the newer rules that towers would have to be put in place.
Remember a Outdoor Warning System is not designed to be heard from inside a building or a vehicle and can only be heard 1 to 2 miles depending on weather conditions.
Our sirens would also have to be manually activated which also adds time to the warning.
Due to these reasons we ask that you have several warning active Apps on your phones and always be weather aware during the turbulent weather times which we have been going thru recently.
Make sure that you call family members who do not have cell or smart phones to warn them of weather conditions. Also please make sure that you and your family have a designated safe spot for any weather events for when a Warning is issued for our area.
