The Illinois Housing Development Authority is conducting an Illinois Housing Blueprint, a statewide housing plan that will analyze housing conditions, opportunities, and obstacles for the state, broken down by region. The Illinois Housing Blueprint will be a tool for municipalities, state agencies, nonprofits, and local leaders across the state to better understand how housing fits into the economic fabric of their region and to support targeted, community-specific policy and investment decisions.

They are currently doing outreach for their community survey which is open to all residents of Illinois and they would greatly appreciate your feedback. The survey can be found here:

There is an active water leak on N. Capitol. The street is closed from Main to the courthouse until further notice along with the alley from Sportsman’s to just past the Hop Garden. Both businesses are still accessible and all other business back doors along that portion of the alley.

Mt. Sterling Signs Agreement with Homefield Energy for Electric Aggregation Program
The City of Mt. Sterling has signed an agreement with Homefield Energy to provide electricity supply for the City's electric aggregation program, a move expected to save participating residents approximately 5 percent on their electricity supply costs over the contact's 17-month term, beginning in August.
Under the agreement, Homefield Energy of Collinsville will supply electricity to eligible residential customers who participate in the City's aggregation program. The rate secured through the competitive bidding process is projected to provide savings of 5 percent compared to Ameren Illinois' residential supply price over the life expectancy of the contract.
“We are pleased to offer residents an opportunity to reduce their electricity costs through the City's aggregation program,” said Mayor Billie Burge. “By leveraging the purchasing power of our community, we were able to secure a competitive rate that is expected to provide meaningful savings for participating households.”
While Homefield will supply the electricity, Ameren Illinois will continue to deliver electricity, maintain electric facilities, respond to outages, and provide customer billing services.
Participation is voluntary, and residents can opt out at any time and at no cost if they prefer to remain with Ameren Illinois or choose another supplier. Letters explaining the program, enrollment, and opt-out details, will be mailed to each eligible resident in mid- June.
