Dear readers,

Today is Maudy Thursday. The day that Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples and washed their feet. He also reminded the to love one another. The story seems like it has such a peaceful ending if it stopped there, but then comes the garden. As authors we might say there was a plot twist, but the Great Creator did not consider it that. This was the main reason for the story. This was what had to happen for the ending to be able to be fulfilled. Yes, it is the peak of the story, but if this didn’t happen there wouldn’t be a story. It was in the garden that Jesus wrestled with His fleshy desire and His divine desire. It was in the garden that He chose His Father’s Will. It was in the garden He made the choice to die for us. Let that sink in. How different it would be if Jesus hadn’t died for our sins, but He did. He chose us. On a dark night, when His disciples couldn’t stay awake, he chose us.

As you prepare for Easter, remember to be grateful for the garden.

Some of you readers may wonder why I write. I enjoy writing. I have stories in my mind that I enjoy putting down on paper. I like seeing the characters come to life and getting to see their lives unfold. I also like (sometimes) the challenge of improving my craft and finding more ways to become a better writer. I don’t think I will ever be perfect but I can always improve.

The most important reason I write though is I want to show people that Jesus wants to have a daily relationship with them, whether that is the Christian who only connects with God on Sundays or the unbeliever who doesn’t know Jesus. Jesus loves us so much that he wants to be involved in every aspect of our lives, the good and bad. I hope my characters help my readers think about their own relationship with God and whether they are as close to Him as they could be.

It is a great day to be alive and to sit in God’s Presence. To think that the God who hears every prayer that is spoken has the time to just sit and be with me. Not only does He have the time, He wants to be with me. He wants the same for you. What a Big God.

I read this morning where people are really praying that the hurricane will decrease in its strength. After just experiencing a strong hurricane, I know many people are afraid of the devastation that could occur and rightly so. I was reminded of another verse though.
“In the last days there will be wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains". Matt 24: 6-13
While we should prepare and pray over such events , we should remember that God has this in control and it doesn’t surprise Him. Let’s rest in that knowledge.
