Guided by faith, purpose, and a heart for people, Deja has built her journey around helping others navigate some of life’s biggest milestones.

As a Realtor, tax professional, and travel entrepreneur, she assists individuals and families with homeownership, financial wellness, and creating meaningful experiences through travel. Her background in military service instilled in her the values of discipline, leadership, integrity, and dedication qualities that continue to shape both her personal life and businesses today.

Beyond her professional roles, Deja is committed to mentorship, encouragement, and giving back to her community. She believes in building generational wealth, supporting young families, and reminding others that where they start does not determine where they can go.

Every dollar will go directly toward helping our young parents with wipes, clothing, shoes, socks, bottles, baby essentials & more. This is what happens when a community comes together with a purpose.

We want to give a HUGE congratulations to our Board Treasurer, Zennia Moppins Calhoun, for going above and beyond during our August “Knock Knock, Who’s There?” Fundraiser!

Zennia didn’t just participate—SHE SHOWED UP! She raised the MOST funds of any board member, helping us continue providing resources, support, care packages, education, and opportunities for our Young Parents and their children. And we have to give a special shoutout to Charita Terrell, who came in SECOND PLACE! 👏🏾💜

Fundraising for a nonprofit isn’t always easy. It takes dedication, consistency, and being willing to tell people, “This mission is worth supporting.” These ladies did exactly that. Zennia, thank you for being a Treasurer who doesn’t just hold a title—you put WORK behind it!

Who said because you already had a baby, you can’t decide to SAVE YOURSELF NOW?

Celibacy can start at ANY point in your journey. Having a child doesn’t mean everybody you date deserves access to your body. And choosing not to have s*x doesn’t make you boring, weird, or “doing too much.”

Sometimes celibacy looks like:

“I want to HEAL before I connect again.”

“I want to learn myself.”

“I want to date without s*x clouding my decisions.”

“I want a HEALTHY relationship.”

“I want commitment.”

“I want to save intimacy for marriage.”

And guess what?

THAT’S COOL TOO.

You can be a Young Mother and decide the next person who experiences you intimately will be your spouse. You can be a Young Father and decide you want discipline, boundaries, and commitment before s*x. Your past choices don’t cancel your ability to create NEW STANDARDS. Celibacy isn’t about pretending you’ve never had s*x. It’s about deciding what access to YOU looks like moving forward. You already created life. Now give yourself permission to create standards. 💜👑

Meet Charita Terrell a dedicated education professional, community advocate, and proud mother who brings both professional experience and personal understanding to the Ambitiously Him & Her King Foundation.

A resident of Mobile, Alabama, Charita has dedicated 19 years to the Mobile County Public School System, including 10 years as a Child Nutrition Program Manager. She also represents Child Nutrition Program staff on the Mobile County Education Support Professional Board, where she advocates for support professionals and works to strengthen the school community.

But Charita’s connection to our mission goes far beyond her professional accomplishments. She was once a young parent herself. She understands firsthand the hardships, responsibilities, sacrifices, and obstacles that can come with navigating parenthood at a young age. Rather than allowing those challenges to define her future, she continued to grow, persevere, and build a life rooted in hard work, family, leadership, and service.

As a Board Member, Charita brings a powerful perspective to our work with young mothers and fathers ages 13–23. She understands that young parents need more than resources—they need encouragement, accountability, guidance, opportunity, and people who genuinely understand the journey.

Her story is a reminder to every young parent we serve: where you begin does not determine where you will finish.

🚨 YOUNG FATHERS, HEAR THIS: YOU DON’T HAVE TO STAY WITH MOM TO BE A GOOD DAD.

Having a baby together does NOT mean you have to force a relationship that is unhealthy, unhappy, or simply no longer working. Your relationship with Mom and your relationship with your CHILD are two different relationships.

You can break up and still:

Show up.
Co-parent respectfully.
Attend appointments.
Provide financially.
Spend quality time with your child.
Communicate about THEIR needs.
Be consistent—even when you and Mom disagree.

And Young Mothers, this goes both ways: a relationship ending doesn’t automatically mean fatherhood should end with it. Sometimes the healthiest thing two young parents can do is stop trying to force themselves to be a couple and learn how to become a TEAM for their child. Your baby doesn’t necessarily need Mommy & Daddy under the same roof. Your baby needs Mommy & Daddy HEALTHY, PRESENT, MATURE & CONSISTENT.

Young King, you don’t have to be her boyfriend to be THEIR FATHER. 👑💜
