As we step into 2026 at a time that feels both consequential and complex for our democratic republic, we’ve been reflecting on the lessons of the past year and what they ask of us moving forward.

This year, we focused on turning principles into practice across our three core initiatives. That meant deep, relationship-driven work to strengthen confidence in elections, bringing Americans across differences together through shared experience, and expanding civic credentials that recognize meaningful participation nationwide.

What’s keeping you up at night these days? If the answer is “the feeling that our house is divided,” you’re not alone.

That’s a reference to national-level politics, community level divides, or even a literal house - or family - divided by partisanship.

Join us for a vital conversation: Looking Ahead to 2026: Strategies for Bringing Americans Together

Join Team Democracy Co-Founder and Board Chairman, Ken Ken Powley to explore practical, inclusive strategies to heal divides and build stronger connections across communities. All backgrounds, perspectives, and ideals are welcome, because democracy works best when we all show up together.

You’ve probably felt it - how divided our country can seem right now. It’s exhausting, and it can make anyone wonder whether we still know how to listen to each other.

As we approach our nation’s 250th anniversary, Americans are searching for ways to build understanding and increase civic engagement without strife. And here’s what we know - when we listen to others with curiosity and respect, we can find where we as Americans have common ground.

This , you can help bring Americans back together by supporting Team Democracy.

Our democracy depends on courage over chaos.

We’re proud to see Newsweek and All Sides hosting the National Roundtable on Political Violence — bringing Americans together for real dialogue and action against political violence.

At the Principles for Trusted Elections, we share this commitment to nonviolence and civic trust. A healthy democracy begins with peaceful participation, honest process, and respect across differences.

What happens when you put strangers in a raft and ask them to navigate not only the river but also some of democracy’s toughest questions?

Our friend Piper Hendricks, CEO of Stories Change Power, joined R.A.F.T. for America’s Ken Powley on the James River and shared powerful reflections on the day. From the importance of fun in civic engagement to why conversations are civic infrastructure, her takeaways highlight what our movement is all about: building trust and connection across divides.
