The Arts Advisory Commission has chosen works by Lauren Quist for the September art exhibit at the Mountlake Terrace Library. Lauren is an award-winning mixed-media artist based in Mountlake Terrace, WA. Her unique perspective, shaped by extensive childhood travel and living abroad, is central to her work. While she formally studied art at the University of Washington, her distinct practice as a painter and embroiderer is entirely self-taught. Lauren is known for her innovative technique, which combines paint and embroidery floss on canvas—a method she first developed for her senior studio project. Featured in numerous Pacific Northwest art exhibitions, her work is defined by dynamic textures and meticulously stitched elements, which invite light to dance across the canvas, granting her subjects a unique depth.

“As I sat with my girls during their annual medical exams and thought back to my older daughter’s sports physical from last year, I couldn’t help but imagine how much more difficult it will be for families, especially for our girls, if a poorly written ballot initiative (I-638), sponsored by a MAGA mega donor, is approved by voters in Washington this November. I-638 puts girls at risk by requiring any girl who wants to play sports to be medically s*x certified. According to legal analysis and health professionals, this means girls would be put through invasive, medically unnecessary ge***al exams or genetic testing.”

I had a great time hosting a meet and greet for Sheriff Susanna Johnson last night at Hemlock State Brewing Company. It was fun to see so many local folks that I hadn’t seen for a while!

There is ONE reasonable, thoughtful, community-focused, experienced, honest choice for Snohomish County sheriff in 2027—Sheriff Johnson. She 💯 has my support and I’m honored to be able to endorse her.

We all need to get behind Sheriff Johnson to ensure her reelection—we do NOT want her challenger in office—the choice here is so clear. Donate time, money, skills—whatever you have—it all counts!

Please educate your WA friends and neighbors about these harmful initiatives coming in November. Want to protect your kids? Vote NO on I-001 and I-638.

🚩These initiatives wouldn't protect anyone--they are harmful, discriminatory, and blatantly transphobic. This is MAGA-funded, hateful legislation. This would harm ALL girls, cis and trans. 🚩

One of the things that makes any job better is the teammates that you’re doing it WITH. Especially if it’s a hard job at times. Sometimes you just have to get a little bit silly.

Meet two of my awesome oncology ARNP colleagues, Lily and Amanda. Yesterday at clinic we realized that we all had carrots 🥕 to eat and, needless to say, I lost this battle w my baby carrot 😝 😭 .

The title of this piece is, “ Charlie’s Angels-Veggie Edition”.
