29 Years Strong — Committed to Our Future
By Les Riel, Fire Commissioner
For 29 years, I have had the honor of serving as your Fire Commissioner. During that time, my dedication to this community has only grown deeper. Together, we’ve faced challenges, celebrated milestones, and built a stronger, more resilient fire district. Today, I am excited to announce my candidacy for reelection — to continue serving you for another six years.
Over the past term, we have accomplished important work that reflects both planning and passion. Station 42 in Terrace Heights was remodeled to include sleeper areas for full-time firefighters, improving our ability to respond quickly to emergencies. I have been actively involved in the budget process, ensuring we maintain healthy reserves to fund new apparatus and capital projects. I am also deeply grateful for the community’s recent approval of our levy, which allows us to move forward with critical investments in safety and service. We also updated district policies and completed a strategic plan, giving us a clear roadmap for the future.
But our work is far from finished. In the years ahead, I am committed to:
Completing our new training center, so our firefighters are fully prepared for the anticipated growth in Terrace Heights and Moxee.
Planning for higher call volumes by ensuring we have the staffing and resources needed to respond quickly and effectively.
Continuing to update apparatus and equipment, keeping our crews equipped with the best tools available.
Expanding firefighter well-being programs, because those who protect our community deserve our strongest support.
Recruiting new firefighters to meet the needs of a growing valley.
Serving as Fire Commissioner has never been just a role — it’s been my calling. I care deeply about the safety, well-being, and unity of this community, and I am proud of the progress we have made together. With your continued support, I will work tirelessly to ensure our fire district is ready for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
On election day, I ask for your vote — so that we can keep building a safer, stronger future for everyone in our district.
Thank you for your trust. It has been my honor to serve you, and I look forward to the work still to come.
