Since 1911 the YWCA Muncie has been a pioneer for social change through innovative initiatives and programs to improve the lives of women in Muncie. While continuing to utilize the original layout of our facility, the organization has evolved into a shelter for homeless women and women with children.

Some residents stay with us one or two days, while others may remain for a few years as they work to transition themselves back into the community.

Numerous community partnerships help provide a variety of services and programs for our residents based on individual situations and needs.

We provide programs such as parenting wisely, job skills training, GED courses, domestic violence support groups, anger management, and more. These classes are provided to help our residents regain the confidence they need to move forward with their lives.

The YWCA also relies on community partners and individual generosity to keep the residents in our facility safe and comfortable while encouraging, educating and empowering them.

In addition to residential services, the YWCA operates a 24-hour emergency shelter for women and women with children who are at risk or homeless. The YWCA also offer a prison re-entry program for women returning into the community from jail or prison.

To help fund residential programs and assistance, the YWCA Muncie provides memberships and programs for the Muncie community to attend. These include exercise classes such as zumba and water aerobics, residential programs, building rentals, and other activities.
