MES will be performing a network upgrade beginning at midnight tonight (Wednesday) into Thursday morning. This will result in periodic, temporary internet outages and gradual restoration.

During this window, we will be replacing our primary edge router to improve overall network capacity, reliability, and long-term performance.

No action will be required on your end as your connection should return automatically once the upgrade is finished.

We understand that outages are inconvenient. We appreciate your patience as we make the necessary upgrades to better serve you going forward. This upgrade is part of our ongoing commitment to maintain a strong, modern network that supports not only our current customers, but also the future growth of our community.

April 18th is National Lineman Appreciation Day, but we try hard everyday to honor the hard work & dedication of electrical line workers. They are a brotherhood, bound by the work they do and their mission to keep each other safe. Their job is hazardous and requires many nights away from home, so we must not forget to also thank & appreciate their families for their sacrifice in supporting them and their work.

Murray Electric System would like to extend condolences to the family of Ronnie Burkeen. Ronnie worked for MES from 1993-2022 and filled the positions of Lineman, Line Foreman, and Operations Superintendent. We are saddened to hear the news of his passing, and are sending strength and comfort to the family as they navigate this challenging time.

The Murray Electric System Board of Directors have declared the following vehicle as surplus property and offered for sale to the highest bidder:

2008 Ford F-150 Regular Cab Pick-up Truck
Approximately 90,000 miles
Operable and fair condition
This vehicle will be sold AS-IS
No warranty or guarantees

The truck can be examined, and a bid form can be obtained by contacting MES Mechanic, Jeff Luffman at 270-762-1715 during business hours M-F 7:30-4:15.

Sealed bids will be due to the MES main office at 401 Olive St, Murray, KY no later than 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. At that time, all bids shall be opened and read aloud. The property shall be awarded to the bidder offering the highest price and able to meet the conditions of the sale. A clean title will be delivered to the successful bidder.

Murray Electric System has multiple upstream internet routes—a redundancy in internet feeds to our system—ensuring connectivity in the event one provider feed fails. There have been a few upstream route outages in the last two weeks, resulting in a shift of traffic to another incoming feed. A firmware update pushed last month by the makers of our routers introduced an issue where, if the router loses the feed it is actively using, it stops any attempts to re-establish connectivity after another route is detected. We are actively working with the router company on a resolution. Under normal circumstances, a single feed failure would only cause a brief service interruption while traffic shifts; however, due to the update, the router does not seem to be resuming connection even after the original route is restored. We have found that resetting the Modem/ONT and router will allow it to resume connectivity until a permanent fix is made:

1. Unplug the router from its power source
2. Unplug the modem/ONT from power source
3. Wait 10 seconds & plug back in
4. Wait for modem to power up
5. Restore power back to router
6. Wait for router to power up. This will take several minutes

If you are experiencing issues with Wi-Fi connectivity, this is likely the cause. If you still experience issues after resetting the Modem/ONT and router, please call our office for assistance at 270-753-5312. We understand this issue with wireless connection is frustrating, and we appreciate your patience as we work with the router company on a permanent resolution.
