ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
o Advocate for a local attitude shift to encourage/promote outside residents to choose to live in Muscatine
o Encourage new development of housing
o Position the south end to become a viable location for a grocery store through a multi-tiered agenda
o Re-initiate talks with Merge Development to help improve quality of living for all residents
o Encourage special event production, providing ‘something to do in Muscatine’ on every weekend, for residents and tourism. o Research possibility of an East Muscatine, so that private investments can be made on the river, that benefit our residents (I have already begun that initiative)
o Propose and motivate construction of Observation Tower and Radio Museum (kiosk for KTNT radio) atop the Mark Twain Overlook
SOCIAL RECREATION
o Provide Leadership to bring back Great River Days (growing MuscaPalooza)
o Advocate for the completion of riverfront improvement plan
Multi-Use Amphitheater
Stage Platform, Concession Stand and Performance dock adjacent to Riverview Center (Huck Finn Hollow)
Tiered Garden to clean up ‘old’ boat ramp area
Sand Volleyball Area (to provide beach atmosphere to riverfront)
o Develop board of leaders to gain ownership and management of former Central Middle School Auditorium
o Upgrade the Audio, Video, and Lighting amenities at the former CMS Auditorium to encourage local usage as well as regional touring performances. o Research and Advocate for utilizing the Mall as an indoor Concert arena and/or Sportsplex. o Open Mic series on Riverfront (like pick-up game of basketball, but formalized, for musicians, comedians, poetry, talents, etc.) o Help initiate a History tour through Muscatine History Center and a Pontoon river tour. COMMUNITY WELLNESS
o Research plausibility of domed recreation complex (like Burlington has) – Indoor soccer, baseball, golf practice, exercise, volleyball, tennis, rugby, etc. o Encourage ‘Blue Zones’ lifestyle (healthy behavior choices)
o Initiate purchase/installation of Sun Screen shelters at Deep Lakes Park (skin cancer prevention while encouraging social/physical recreation there)
PLEDGE: I will pledge NOT to initiate litigation against municipal organizations, namely the City of Muscatine. VICE MAYOR: I am going to invite a citizen to run on my ‘ticket’ as a vice mayor. They will receive a percentage of my salary. CITY COUNCIL: I believe the city council position should have an increased stipend. NOT going to be ‘on trial’ during term… we are dodging a bullet by electing either myself or Jim
