K9 Brice is spending the end of summer with someone very special— Leslie Root Marquis Brice’s breeder who knew her from the very beginning nine years ago. ☀️🐾

For Brice, this isn’t just a summer stay. It’s a full-circle visit with the person who helped give her a start in life before becoming the dedicated K9 she is today.

While staying with Leslie, K9 Brice is getting plenty of time to relax, enjoy some enrichment, stay active, and soak up a little extra attention. For a working dog, opportunities to decompress and enjoy a change of pace are an important part of staying happy, healthy, and ready for the job.

Nine years later, the bond is still there—and judging by that face, Brice seems pretty happy to be back with an old friend. 💛🐕‍🦺

Here’s to a well-earned end-of-summer getaway for K9 Brice and a special reunion with Leslie!

We don’t know every detail of what happened, and we won’t pretend that we do.

What we do know is K9 Axel’s handler personally. We know his dedication to his K9 partner, his profession, and helping others. We cannot imagine the pain and hurt he and his family are experiencing right now.

In a difficult moment, a judgment call was made in an effort to help people. A lot has transpired since then, and there will be an appropriate time and place for the facts and circumstances to be fully reviewed.

But through all of this, there is also a bond that should not be forgotten—the bond between a K9 and his handler. These teams train together, work together, depend on one another, and become family.

We are sharing this petition because we support bringing K9 Axel home to his handler.

🐾 Working Together Toward a Safe Outcome 🐾

Earlier today, K9 Brice assisted the Muskegon County Sheriff's Office in the search for two missing boys in Egelston Township.

Both boys were located safely. Although K9 Brice was not the one who located them, we were grateful for the opportunity to assist and work alongside law enforcement agencies, dispatchers, community members, and other responding resources toward one common goal.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring the boys home safely.

🐾 K9 Brice Visits West Shore Community College! 🐾

Thursday afternoon, K9 Brice had the opportunity to participate in West Shore Community College's 2026 summer youth programming and teach students about the incredible power of a working dog’s nose.

Students learned that we all “stink different” and that Brice can use her nose to detect scent from v***r, skin rafts, contact odor, ground disturbance, and even crushed vegetation. We also discussed the importance of scent evidence preservation and how contamination can affect a search.

To wrap up the visit, Brice completed a short demonstration track—and successfully found her person!

Thank you to West Shore Community College for inviting us to be part of this fun and educational afternoon. Brice enjoyed meeting the students and showing them how her nose helps her do her job! 🐕‍🦺👃

Shoutout to Matthew and his brother, who gifted Brice a tin of herring Wednesday evening at Owasippe Scout Reservation County Fair.
