🔥Wildcat Fire Update for the weekend of October 10-12, 2025

Location: Near Bumping Lake in the WilliamO. Douglas Wilder. 30 miles northwest of Naches, Washington in Yakima County

Current situation: Firefighters are continuing mop-up operations around Goose Prairie, and are assessing and mitigating hazards tress for public safety. There has been minimal fire activity over the last couple of days. Command of the fire was transferred to a local Naches Ranger District’s Type 4 incident management organization the evening of Thursday, October 8.
Today’s Activities: Firefighters will continue to patrol the fire lines near Bumping Lake, Goose Prairie, and Highway 410. Suppression repair activities will continue, and crews will work to complete remaining brush piling and repair of roads damaged by fire-related traffic.
Weather and Fire Activity: Fire activity has been minimal. The fire is receiving light rain this morning, with more rain and wind today and through the weekend.
Evacuations: The evacuation level remains at Level 2. Yakima County has declared a LEVEL 2 – GET SET evacuation level for Goose Prairie and Bumping River Road. To sign-up for Yakima County alerts, see: https://yakimacounty.us/350/Emergency-Management.
Closures: State Route (SR) 410 remains open. However, due to ongoing fire activity, both the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and Mount Rainier National Park have closures in place, including a section of the Pacific Crest Trail #2000 from the intersection of Bumping Lake Trail #971 to the Chinook Pass Trailhead at SR 410. The Bumping River Road remains closed to the general public at the junction of SR-410; however, it remains open for residents of Goose Prairie to access their private property only. Access on SR 123 in the National Park between Cayuse and Stevens Canyon Road is temporarily closed due to a construction project.
