Hooray 🎉🎉🎉

Garrity Blvd is now open! The eastbound I-84 off-ramp has been reopened as well.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our community as we completed this emergency repair. Crews worked around the clock to replace the failed water main and reconstruct the roadway.

Please note that the Idaho Transportation Department is repaving the westbound off-ramp this weekend. The westbound off-ramp is expected to reopen by 4pm on Monday, August 17. A northbound lane closure on Garrity Blvd is expected. Drive carefully and watch for lane shifts.

Don’t tread on my privacy.

Flock cameras may be sold as a public-safety tool, but Idahoans should be very careful about normalizing a system that tracks where ordinary people drive and stores that information in searchable databases.

Public safety matters. So do civil liberties. Government should need a clear reason to track someone. Data should be tightly limited, access should be audited, retention should be short, and Idahoans should know exactly how these systems are being used.

Freedom means more than being left alone in your home. It also means being able to drive to work, a doctor’s appointment, a friend’s house, or a protest without feeling like the government is building a record of your movements.💙

Today is the 91st anniversary of the Social Security Act being signed into law.

If all income in excess of $400,000 were subject to the Social Security payroll tax, Social Security’s solvency would be guaranteed forever. We could also expand Social Security benefits.

There’s no reason even to consider reducing Social Security benefits or raising the age of eligibility. The logical and necessary response is simply to raise the cap. What do you think?
