The Most Overlooked College Checklist

How many days until move-in for your college student?

You probably have a checklist that looks something like this:

✔ Mini fridge
✔ Air purifier
✔ Shower caddy
✔ Twin XL bedding
✔ Laundry basket

What about the non-tangible things your student needs?

✔ A conversation about consent
✔ An understanding of bystander intervention
✔ A handful of self-defense skills
✔ Contacts on campus for emergency situations
✔ Resources for recovering from an unwanted encounter

These are the items that Strictly Self Defense can help your college student check off their college prep list, before heading to campus. Whether it is their first year on campus, or they are a returning student, the red zone is the reason they need this type of preparation.

I have set aside the next few weeks to work with college bound students because I do not want your child to be impacted.

The Red Zone refers to the period of time between arrival on campus in August and Thanksgiving break in November. This is the period of time in which sexual assault is most likely to occur.

What do you do with your kids when there is no school?

We are offering day off school programs for ages 4-18 this Winter, in partnership with Naperville Safety Town. Programs are fun, empowering, and provide age appropriate lessons on staying safe.

Monday, January 5th we have space available in our Youth Self Defense and Teen Self Defense programs.

Monday, January 19th we have space in our Teen Self Defense and Family Safety Workshops.

All programs are taught by our lead instructor, Lindsey Daehnke. She is a trauma informed instructor with more than 26 years of training experience.
