Earlier this month, Vice Mayor Henderson hosted 26 college and high school students participating in the Metropolitan Action Commission of Nashville and Davidson County's (MAC) POWER Youth Summer Employment Program in the David Scobey Council Chamber at the Historic Courthouse & City Hall. The POWER (Providing Opportunities for Wealth-building and Economic Resilience) Youth program provides exploration and work experience activities for youth ages 14 to 24.

Summer interns from the offices of the Metropolitan Action Commission, Office of The Metropolitan Trustee, the Metro Nashville Community Review Board, and the Metropolitan General Sessions Court participated in “Metro Council 101,” an interactive presentation created by Vice Mayor Henderson and the Council Office to share about local government and the work of the Metro Council.

Last weekend, Metro Council Members joined the annual Rep. John Lewis Way March, an event honoring the legacy of Congressman John Lewis and his lifelong commitment to civil rights and community empowerment. The march brought together residents, leaders, and organizations to reflect on his impact and continue the work of advancing equality and justice in Nashville and beyond.

Meet July's featured dog for Paws Across Metro🐾

Council Member Deonté Harrell of District 8 met Cayenne at Public Square Park for some fresh air and new smells. She's hoping to find her forever home through Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control.

Last week, Metro Council Members and representatives from the Mayor's Office attended YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee's Girls Inc. Summer Camp. During the session, they explored civic leadership and what it takes to solve real-world challenges.

Over the course of this term, the Metro Council has welcomed visitors from our Sister Cities in Magdeburg (Germany), Belfast (Ireland), Caen (France), Mendoza (Argentina), and Chengdu (China). These visits strengthen cultural understanding, support educational exchange, and deepen Nashville’s ties with communities around the world.

Did you know? Nashville has ten official Sister Cities with a mission “To connect Nashvillians with people of the world, promoting peace through mutual understanding, respect and cooperation – one person, one community at a time.”

We’re grateful for our ongoing partnership with Sister Cities of Nashville and for the chance to continue building friendships that span continents.
