Tall cover crop collects dew which is a source of water for the plants and soil. We have not had rain for 6 weeks but you can't walk through the field without having your boots get very wet from the dew in the mornings. Short cover crop, little dew benefit. Tall cover crop collects dew and cycles the moisture back into the soil while also keeping the soil temperature cooler. Which would you choose? , , , , , ,
