It was an inspiring day focused on the heart of our mission: the power of community. Within community-based foster care, these connections are not just beneficial—they are essential. When we link arms with local partners, advocates, and neighbors, we create a stronger, more supportive safety net for children and families. Please join us in congratulating Rocky Hensarling on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Texas Family Care Network, a division of Pressley Ridge.

Rocky brings more than 15 years of experience serving Texas children and families and has been instrumental in leading TFCN’s Community-Based Care work in Deep East Texas. In his new role, he will provide leadership across both Region 5 and Region 3E as TFCN expands its work to serve children and families in Dallas County.

Throughout his career, Rocky has been a passionate advocate for children, families and kinship care, believing that strong relationships and community connections create better outcomes for youth. His leadership will help guide TFCN through an exciting period of growth while keeping children and families at the center of everything we do.

Congratulations, Rocky! We look forward to the impact this next chapter will bring for children and families across Texas.

Today, as we reflect on September 11th, we are reminded of the profound strength that emerges when a community stands together in the face of adversity. That day taught us that while life can change in an instant, the power of human connection and collective support remains our greatest anchor.

This spirit of unity is exactly what we need to bring to our most vulnerable neighbors—our children and youth in foster care.

Community-based care is about more than just services; it’s about surrounding families and children with a village that says, "You are not alone." Whether it’s providing a stable home, mentoring a young person, or simply offering a helping hand to a foster family, every act of support weaves a stronger safety net for the kids in our own backyard.

Just as we saw neighbors helping neighbors during our darkest hours, we have the opportunity every day to show up for our local children. When we come together as a community, we create a landscape of care where every child has the chance to thrive, feel safe, and know they belong.

Let’s honor the legacy of unity by building a stronger, more supportive community for our foster youth today. Together, we can make a world of difference.

Kinship care is more than just opening your home—it’s about providing a foundation of love, stability, and security for children during a time of transition. Whether temporary or permanent, kinship caregivers play a vital role in preserving family connections and ensuring children thrive in a familiar environment.

In our second series on Kinship Care, we’re honored to share the story of Ms. Thomas.

When the twin’s were newborns, Ms. Thomas didn't hesitate; she drove to Dallas to bring them into her home. From day one, she has treated the twins as her own, ensuring they remain together to protect their sibling bond. Beyond providing a safe and loving space, Ms. Thomas is dedicated to their well-being, prioritizing their developmental milestones and routine health care.

What makes Ms. Thomas’s journey truly inspiring is her selfless commitment to the children’s best interests. Currently working toward licensure through Grace Manor, she keeps the twins at the center of her life. She works collaboratively with all parties involved, remaining open to all possibilities that will benefit the twins.

Ms. Thomas’s story is a powerful reminder that the heart of kinship care is putting the child first, supporting their needs, and holding space for whatever their future—and their family—may hold.

Thank you to all the kinship caregivers who step up, show up, and love unconditionally.
