On Friday, June 5th, officers from agencies across Middlesex County will proudly participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey. The “Flame of Hope” will make its way through our communities as law enforcement officers run together in support of the incredible athletes of Special Olympics New Jersey.

The torch will be passed from department to department along the route as it continues its journey across the state toward the opening ceremonies at The College of New Jersey. We encourage community members to come out, cheer on the runners, and show their support for this inspiring tradition that unites law enforcement and our communities for such an important cause.

Earlier today, the Middlesex Borough Police Department teamed up with the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Counterterrorism Unit and the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness to visit local businesses and houses of worship throughout the borough to educate community members and review signs of terrorism-related suspicious activity.

These proactive outreach efforts are an important part of keeping our community safe. Strengthening partnerships with local businesses, faith-based organizations, and residents encourages awareness, improves communication, and helps ensure suspicious activity is recognized and reported promptly.

We thank our county and state law enforcement partners for assisting with this important initiative and for their continued commitment to protecting our communities.
