Patrick — a husband, father, veteran, and law enforcement officer — was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in August 2024. This week, his family received devastating news that the cancer has now spread to the bones in his spine.

As treatments intensify, Patrick’s wife Lauren has stepped away from work indefinitely to care for him and their two young boys, choosing to stand beside her husband through the most difficult chapter of their lives. While they focus on fighting this disease together, the stress of lost income, medical needs, and everyday expenses continues to grow.

Joe Riedy and his wife Julianne are facing an unimaginable tragedy after a devastating house fire tore through their Pennsylvania home on May 9, destroying the residence and claiming nearly all of their personal belongings. More than a dozen fire departments responded to battle the blaze, but despite their efforts, the family lost their home, everyday essentials, and countless memories in a matter of moments. Thankfully, Joe, Julianne, and their beloved dog escaped safely without injury, but they are now displaced and beginning the difficult process of rebuilding their lives from temporary housing.

Joe dedicated many years of his life to serving and protecting the residents of Bethlehem as a police sergeant, continuing his commitment to public service and his local community long after retirement. Now, during one of the most difficult moments of their lives, the Riedy family needs the same support and compassion they have always shown others.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Associate Traffic Enforcement Agent Mohammed S. Anwar of the Brooklyn Traffic Enforcement Unit, who suffered a heart attack while on duty and sadly passed away days later. His loss is being felt across the entire law enforcement community, as he leaves behind his wife, Farhana Khatun, two children, loved ones, friends, and fellow officers who are grieving this heartbreaking tragedy.

This fundraiser, organized by the family of Mohammed S. Anwar with support from the Bangladeshi American Police Association, Muslim Officers Society, NYPD Desi Society, and Traffic Squad Benevolent Association, has already raised more than $9,200 through 138 donations. The funds will help support his family with funeral-related expenses, immediate financial needs, and the difficult road ahead.
