It’s been a bit but don’t worry- we’re still here. We’ve been busy with softball and life in general lately but we’ve got tons of projects to get done this summer. Stay tuned to see what’s in store but while you wait, enjoy the animals living their best lives.

Today marks one year since closing on Fairview. To say it’s been an adventure would be an understatement. Some days we question our choices and our sanity but then remember how lucky we are to own a piece of history.

In the last year, we have:
-lived thru the hottest summer without central air;
-hosted our first overnight guests! 🫶
-spent countless hours cleaning
-done asbestos abatement
-had the attic re-insulated
-had an ER visit from wasp stings while cutting down a tree
-made countless window inserts to mitigate cold air coming in
-gone to counties estate sales and picked up some amazing pieces
-learned to wear winter socks and sweatpants to bed
-maintenance , maintenance , maintenance!
-found some treasures in the attic
-dug deeper into the house’s history
-hosted Friendsgiving
-hosted Christmas Eve
-hosted Ashton’s 14th birthday party

Most importantly, through most of it, we kept laughing and smiling. We have some big projects on tap this year, so stay tuned!

We are honored to be Fairview’s stewards for one never truly owns an old home; we just care for it until it’s time for the next person to take over.

With love,
Devon & Jason

Friends! It’s been a very busy few weeks at the Manor.
that things are getting back to normal (is there such a thing in an antique home?!), we are heading into project season.

Jason has been hard at work trying to keep the heating bill down! We’ve begun re-doing the insulation in the attic which involved help from me too. Blowing insulation all the way up into the attic was dirty work. I still think Jason got the easy part!

He’s also been identifying which windows are leaking the most and building inserts as well.

So excited to decorate and celebrate the holidays!

ER last night for 5 hours.. oral steroid, hospital Benadryl and some super strong anti histamine plus a shot of painkiller and we are “almost” back to normal.

Jason did determine there is a bees nest in the dead tree trunk adjacent to the tree I was cutting down. We can only guess that the noise and vibration made them mad and they attacked me.

Update… now in the ER because the swelling got much worse..
