As corn continues to grow across Chickasaw County, visibility at rural intersections is becoming more limited.
Stop at every posted STOP sign—whether you're on a hard-surfaced road or a gravel road. A stop sign means STOP, regardless of the type of road you're traveling.
At uncontrolled intersections, slow down and look both ways. Tall corn and other obstacles can hide approaching traffic until it's too late.

The individual has been identified, and arrangements have been made to address the property damage.

I would like to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to call with information that assisted in positively identifying the individual. Your willingness to help is greatly appreciated and is another example of our community looking out for one another.

🚨 Public Assistance Requested – Fredericksburg Property Damage Accident 🚨

The Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the person and/or vehicle involved in a property damage accident that occurred this morning, July 7, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m. in the 100 block of Plum Street in the City of Fredericksburg.

Based on the information we have at this time, we do not believe the driver intentionally left the scene without accepting responsibility. The driver attempted to make contact with the property owner; however, the homeowner was not available at the time.

We have attached a still photograph and a video that may help identify the vehicle and/or driver.

If you recognize the vehicle or have any information that may assist our investigation, please contact the Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office at 641-394-3121 and select Option 2 to speak with our 24-hour Communications Center.

We wanted to let residents know that Matas Kriksciunas, a student from Lithuania, will be in Chickasaw County this week selling educational books door-to-door.

Matas reached out to our office and asked if we could share this information with the community. He has provided us with a valid solicitation permit issued by the City of Fredericksburg.

As always, if someone comes to your door and you have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask for identification and use your own judgment before making a purchase.
