6:45 P.M. Update

Road conditions have drastically improved since our first update thanks to the State and County road crews. We have resumed normal towing procedures.

Continue to drive with caution and be safe.

Sheriff Ryan Shawver

Original Post:

🚨 Winter Storm Towing Update 🚨

As of 9:10 a.m., towing will be handled case by case based on vehicle location and road conditions.

Vehicles on heavily traveled roads—especially state highways—will remain in place unless they are impeding traffic. This is for the safety of law enforcement and tow operators until conditions improve.

Other situations will be evaluated as they arise.

If needed, we will come get you to ensure your safety.

We are working closely with state and county road crews and will re-evaluate conditions around noon today.

For current road conditions go to 511ia.org

Please stay safe.

Sheriff Ryan Shawver
