Fall can be mistakenly viewed as the wind-down season for gardening, but planting in fall gives plants a critical head start, setting them up for robust growth in spring.

Many regional species thrive exceptionally well when installed in autumn like spicebush (Lindera benzoin), wood phlox (Phlox divaricata), bonesets (Eupatorium spp.) and asters (Symphyotrichum and Eurybia).
