Yesterday, ECHOHomes celebrated the groundbreaking of a transformative $26M mixed-income housing development at 66 Union St. that will create 46 rental homes, including 9 units for individuals with intellectual disabilities. 🏗🪏

Two years in the making, the project brings renewed purpose and honor to the legacy of City of New London, Connecticut's historic First Congregational Church by incorporating 20T of original church granite while creating homes rooted in safety, belonging, and hope. 🏠

Designed to meet a top national green building standard and pursue Emerald certification for sustainability, the development reflects a shared commitment to expanding affordable housing opportunities in our community. 🔐

Thank you to Congressman Joe Courtney, Senator Heather Somers, Mayor Michael Passero, Connecticut Department of Developmental Services Commissioner Elisa Velardo, Connecticut Department of Housing Commissioner Mosquera-Bruno, the ECHO board, architects and builders, and the many financial partners (including Liberty Bank/Citizens) whose collaboration helped bring this vision to life.
