Stocking of Cheer Program

Stocking of Cheer Program Non- Profit Christmas Stocking Project for children. Please read entire ABOUT to fully understand. The NMPD Dispatchers are changing the program a little.

The New Martinsville Police Department Dispatchers have started a Stocking Project for the children of Wetzel County. 2016 was the first year for the project and the dispatchers are hoping for this project to continue, just as the Shop With A Cop/ First Responder Program has. Christmas is all about children and placing a smile on their faces is just what they plan to do. The Law Enforcement Office

rs have their program and the NMPD Dispatchers now have the Stocking Project. 2016 was a huge success thanks to the dispatchers and the residents in the community who came forward and assisted with donations to help make this project possible.
2016 being the first year was geared around those children not qualifying for the Shop With A Cop Program. The Stocking Project picked up where that left off and made approx. 500 stockings for the children in Wetzel County.
2017 and future years will be a little different. Their goals are now to supply every child in grades Pre-K thru 4th grade with a stocking in all four of the counties Elementary Schools. Students in 5th-8th grades in three of the Elementary Schools and 5th-6th grades in the remaining Elementary School will receive Christmas cards with a gift certificate from an area business. Keeping with the "No Child Left Behind" policy. As stated Christmas is for the children and everyone of them deserve a little extra Christmas cheer. They are children and they don't understand poverty levels and honestly they need not be concerning themselves with such things at their young ages. NMPD Dispatchers feel that children may feel like they are left out because they didn't receive a stocking. So, the changes are being implemented for the 2017 project. NMPD Dispatchers are accepting donations starting now for the Stocking Project. Donations can be dropped off at the New Martinsville Police Department any time. A dispatcher is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Donations may also be mailed to New Martinsville Police Department Attention: Stocking Project
at 193 Main St. New Martinsville, WV 26155. Any and all donations are appreciated. Monetary donations can also be dropped off. If making a monetary donation please specify in the memo or on the outside of the envelope "Stocking Project:" so the money is recorded in the proper places through the city recorder's office. If you have any questions you may contact Billie Zimmerman at 304-398-2082 or 304-771-8435. or Brittany Young at 304-815-4547. NMPD Dispatcher are grateful for all the assistance they received in 2016. They wish to thank everyone who donated, and thank all of those who will donate in the future to keep their project going for the children in Wetzel County. Thank You & God Bless
As of December 1, 2017 A Calm Stocking of Cheer is no longer affiliated with the New Martinsville Police Department or any other agency. We are completely non-profit and we do this all by donations and with the help of caring individuals in the Wetzel County area. If you are interested in helping and becoming part of our group feel free to message me. We would love to have more participants. Thank you

The Stocking of Cheer has changed hands! A new page has been created please follow our new facebook!

The Stocking of Cheer Program was originally started in 2016 by The New Martinsville Police Department Dispatchers for the children of Wetzel County since then it has changed hands more than once. if you would like to donate you can contact Jackie Loy (304) 904-5299 or Arisha Mason (304) 815-4778. The Stocking of Cheer is a nonprofit organization that aides in spreading Christmas cheer during the holiday season! The program distributes a Christmas stocking to each child in Wetzel County Elementary Schools. Providing a stocking to Pre-K through 4th grades and delivering a Christmas card for those in 5th through 8th grade. This takes a lot of hard work as well as funding to be able to purchase the stockings as well as purchasing items to fill the stockings. The Program doesn't stop there. We adopt a family in need each Christmas and provide gifts and dinner fixings. The Stocking of Cheer has filled as many as 1,500 stockings during a single season. We do this all by donations and with the help of caring individuals in the Wetzel County area. Thank you!

Just dropping in with an FYI, the Stocking of Cheer Program depleted all inventory last year, but very little. So, with that being said, any and all donations are appreciated. We need stockings, tooth brushes, colored pencils, coloring books, note pads, body wash, tooth paste, hair brushes, perfume, cologne, little toys, Barbie dolls, snacks, juices, etc. whatever we can stuff into a stocking. Monetary donations are helpful too. Especially, if you are unsure what to get. Monetary donations can be made at Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union by depositing to the Stocking of Cheer Program’s account.
Even $1.00 helps reach our goals. Thank you all so much in advance. Without the kindness of each of you the program wouldn’t be possible.

All stockings have been stuffed and delivered!
Chalk it up for one more year of success.
We depleted everything we have but a few little odd and ends items. So, we have some fundraising to do and/ or donations to seek for 2023, so we can continue to do what we do. Thank you to those who continue to support and donate to our little program. Thank you to Sandy at the Robert C. Byrd Center for allowing us to get the building for stuffing. Thank goodness it wasn’t booked when we called. Thank you to EQT, Dominion Energy, Antero, and the United Way for your support and to everyone who has donated in any way to the program. A huge shout out to the WV Country Roads Festival Queens for their help stuffing, opening, arranging, and keeping us all in line the past few days. Until next year May each and every one of you have a truly blessed Merry Christmas 🎄 and Happy New Year 🎈
With much appreciation,
The Stocking of Cheer Program.

UPDATE- A Location Has Been Found. Thank You All For Sharing.
The Stocking of Cheer Program has a pretty big request. It is in need of a space big enough for stuffing stockings. Preferably in New Martinsville or close by. It takes a space with roughly 15 tables available to use and they can’t take funding away from the children to pay outrageous rental fees. Any directions or availability would be appreciated. The date’s preferred are December 9-12 or 13 and if that’s not available then December 2-5 or 6 will work.
Schools are letting out earlier than normal this year and there is a lot of work to get done so they stockings can be delivered to the schools before Christmas Break.
