Next Wednesday!๐ On Wednesday, June 24, join us in person at Cafe Istanbul in the New Orleans Healing Center (2372 St Claude), or on Zoom from 6 pm to 8 pm for our Clean Air and Climate Justice panel event.
With hundreds of polluting facilities in our state, Louisiana is a global driver for climate change. Toxic air pollution exposure and reliance on fossil fuels are an unsustainable cycle that is turning too many of our historic black and indigenous communities into sacrifice zones. Join us next Wednesday, online or in person, to learn from organizations that are building solutions.
During this event, we will be covering:
-The Trump administration's attacks on the Clean Air Act and the repealment of the endangerment finding + what that means for Louisiana
-Lifesaving air monitoring legislation that helps prevent industrial accidents and help us hold polluters accountable
-Sources of emissions and the causes of climate change
-The threat of industrial pollution in New Orleans' historically Black Lower Ninth Ward
-How high energy demands to power AI data centers create major air pollution
-How liquified natural gas operations are disrupting the daily lives of thousands just South of New Orleans + resident testimonies
This panel presentation will be followed by a Q & A discussion with panelists.
Food will be available for event participants.
Closed captions provided via Zoom.
Masks provided to help protect and include immunocompromised and disabled community members.
