Last night, Battery Park City became the stage for a moment 25 years in the making as Bill T. Jones and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company returned to Lower Manhattan for the world premiere of Curriculum IV: Spin and Spin! Turn! Turn! Turn!, bringing the work to life at Wagner Park.

The work was originally scheduled to premiere here in September 2001, but that performance never happened following the events of 9/11. Now, a performance that was once interrupted by tragedy has finally found its stage. A powerful reminder that even after the darkest moments, we can come together, remember, and keep moving forward.

And there’s still time to experience it.

The performance continues today, September 12, and tomorrow, September 13. Both performances are free.

At South Cove in Battery Park City, a small plaque tells a powerful story about the people who helped our community in the aftermath of September 11.

“In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, Battery Park City Parks and Authority employees tirelessly assisted in the clean-up of Battery Park City, revitalizing our parks and restoring our neighborhood to the refuge it is today. We dedicate this oasis within an oasis to honor their efforts.”

On this 25th anniversary, we remember those we lost, honor those who helped our community through an unimaginable time, and reflect on the resilience of Lower Manhattan and all those who call it home. #911
