Led by Commissioner Stanley Richards, our correctional heroes joined public safety partners at the 26th Precinct in promoting law enforcement-community partnerships, community-building and neighborhood camaraderie.

On behalf of Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani, Commissioner Richards also presented the 26th Precinct with a proclamation that recognized the staff’s exemplary public service and officially named Aug. 4 as in !

Thank you to the members of One Accord Ministries from for recently visiting to provide praise and worship services on .

With leadership from Commissioner Stanley Richards, Pastor Ander “Andy Rebirth” Pellerano and special guests visited program areas and housing units at the Robert N. Davoren Center (RNDC) and George R. Vierno Center (GRVC) on July 25 to inspire people in our care. The programming also featured credible messengers sharing their story of redemption, perseverance and hope.

The members also dedicated time alongside Commissioner Richards and officials in our Chaplaincy Services Unit to pray for the Supervisors and Correction Officers in our agency as they continue with courage 24/7/365 to help people in our care.

We also thank them today for their continuous dedication in keeping the employees, visitors and individuals in our care safe.

boldly joined the country yesterday in celebrating , a time to recognize our young professionals for their hard work and career focus.

Since last month, students from multiple colleges have been working hard in various divisions at our agency to obtain knowledge, training and experience in government.

With leadership from the Early Career Development team in our Human Resources Division, our interns also participated in an interactive workshop at NYC DOC Headquarters in yesterday.

The program included career counseling, guest speakers, wellness activities, networking and more to assist in the success of our future leaders.

Members of ’s Recruit Class 1 of 2026 are training with honor, purpose, unity and integrity every tour as they work to become Correction Officers.

Earlier today, Commissioner Stanley Richards shared words of encouragement to our Recruit Officers during their training with our Fi****ms and Tactics Unit (FTU) at the range in .

Through this hands-on instruction with our veteran instructors, our Recruit Officers are learning next level skills in, among other areas, marksmanship, gun handling and tactics. We wish them continued success as they work each day to complete our rigorous 17-week Correction Academy.
