Brad Lander

Brad Lander Democratic nominee for Congress in NY-10. Dad Lander. Love unions, justice, seltzer, and NYC. Brad loves New York City.

Brad Lander is running for mayor to solve New York City's problems, not his own. Brad is a lifelong public servant who's honest and effective, and has the track record to deliver a safer, more affordable, better run New York City. Brad sent his kids to public schools, and dedicated his life's work to public service, building and saving thousands of affordable homes and passing groundbreaking legis

lation to protect workers. As Comptroller, Brad has shown the courage to stand up for what's right. He was the first public official to stand up to Donald Trump and Elon Musk when they tried to steal $80 million in taxpayer money from our city, and he rejected Eric Adams’s no-bid contract that wasted $432 million in taxpayer money. As mayor, he’ll stand up to anyone for New Yorkers and fight like hell to protect us from Donald Trump. He is the one candidate who brings the three things we need most right now: strong, experienced leadership, outstanding public integrity, and real solutions to tackle our toughest problems.

Thursday night at the NYS Democratic Party coordinated campaign office opening in Brooklyn. Fun fact: this was the campaign HQ for my primary campaign!

Glad that it’s quickly being put to good use again: To re-elect Kathy Hochul, win contested congressional & state legislative races, and rack up as many local victories as possible.

A real honor to earn the support of GIFFORDS. If there’s anyone who embodies the spirit of courage and resilience, it’s . I’ll go to Congress striving to follow her example as a tenacious gun safety champion.

Every single day, Americans are needlessly killed by gun violence. We must do more to take on the toxic special interests who proliferate the flow of guns on our streets.

Props to the brave students in India who forced the resignation of the Modi government’s education minister. These brave students staged a peaceful sit-in protest that lasted a month, went on hunger strike, and endured violence from the Delhi police.

They were called “cockroaches” by their own government — so they started the Cockroach Janta Party to fight back. I hope the cockroach phenomenon is contagious, and we see a peaceful youth uprising against our own oppressive regime right here at home!

The cockroach youth uprising has already pushed through collective fear, and changed what Indians of all ages believe is possible.

Spent the weekend with union members (including some cool librarians organizing in Denver), community groups, immigrant leaders, student organizers & progressive elected officials at the California Working Families Party and CO Working Families Party state conventions this weekend.

Loved meeting Randy Villegas and Melat Kiros. Really excited about our freshman class!

It sure isn’t just in New York: A powerful energy is moving across the country for big Democratic wins this fall — and for bolder, clear-eyed leadership to fight corruption & deliver for working people.

I’m in LA this weekend for the California Working Families Party Party Convention, where I was thrilled to meet Randy Villegas Randy Villegas. Randy is: (a) the Democratic candidate for Congress in CA-22, a “red-to-blue” swing seat currently represented by a Republican that we must win to take back the House, (b) an inspiring person, first in his family to go to college, then got a PhD and became a teacher, and (c) a bold progressive fighter for working families.

Please join me today in helping him win: Randy.vote

The Army Corps of Engineers was created in 1775, so it’s been building infrastructure to protect us for longer than we’ve been a nation. And they’ve got a long & deep history in NYC, including critical work after 9/11.

Today, these civil servants (who work at 26 Federal Plaza, so I see them a lot!) are the experts we rely on for flood protection, resiliency & critical infrastructure projects. But the Trump administration is trying to send them across the river to New Jersey — knowing that many workers will quit, so they can shrink the agency & reduce climate protections.

So this week I proudly joined the mighty members of IFPTE98 to make clear that we want to keep U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District in NYC — so they can keep working to improve safety & resilience for all of us.

This story is both shocking and not the least bit surprising: an OpenAI model that was being tested for its abilities hacked the infrastructure surrounding the test, worked over the weekend while no one was looking, and cyber-attacked a real company, well before OpenAI noticed.

Congress must move swiftly to pass bipartisan AI safety regulation that builds on but goes farther than Alex Bores’ NY RAISE Act and California’s SB53.

We need broader AI regulation to address risks to our jobs, climate, privacy, kids, and humanity — which is why I support Bernie & AOC’s data center moratorium bill — but we shouldn’t wait one minute more for basic safety standards.

OpenAI noticed after the threat was contained and the FBI was alerted, people familiar with the investigation say.

Thanks to the hundreds of volunteers & neighbors who planted & painted the grounds of NYCHA LES II yesterday, as part of the “She Builds” 10th Annual event with Rebuilding Together NYC. Great to be a part of the deep history of tending community gardens on the Lower East Side.

One month ago, the voters of NY-10 made me the Democratic nominee for Congress.

I remain profoundly grateful to our incredible team and supporters, humbled by the faith New Yorkers have placed in me, and – most of all – energized for the urgent fights ahead.

The spirit that’s moving in this city – on Election Night, I called it solidarity – offers a path forward to a future so much better than the grim, selfish, zero-sum world that Trump and AI oligarchs are offering.

To have any chance to secure that future, we’ve got to get busy both fighting to win House and Senate Democratic majorities in November and preparing the boldest agenda to deliver for people once we get there.

This awful incident — a likely Latino man stabbing a Jewish man & an Asian man while allegedly shouting “Allahu Akbar” on the Upper West Side — is simultaneously:

Frightening and depressing.

Almost certainly an antisemitic hate crime.

Quite likely an anti-Asian hate crime.

Probably a mental health issue.

Definitely reason to feel grateful to Manhattan Shomrim, the NYPD, and the grace of God that both men are likely to recover.

Not the fault of the Mayor for calling Netanyahu a war criminal.

A good reason for people who liked the Mayor’s video to take the fears of Jewish neighbors more seriously.

A call for all of us to work harder to bring people together, across lines that feel very fraught, to strengthen our efforts to make this a city that’s safe for Jews, for Asians, and for everyone else.

A man was arrested after the daylight attacks in a neighborhood bordering Central Park in Manhattan. The police were investigating whether the stabbings were hate crimes.
