Student Health Outreach Program (SHOUT) SHOUT is a volunteer organization that serves to enroll low-income populations surrounding our community in much needed health insurance and food stamps.

Student Health Outreach (SHOUT) is a volunteer organization that serves to enroll low-income populations surrounding our community in much needed health insurance, food stamps, and other government-assistance programs. We are a member of Community Impact at Columbia University, and we work in collaboration with a number of organizations in New York such as Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) and Childre

n’s Aid Society (CAS). SHOUT volunteers at a number of locations throughout Manhattan such as the Ford Hall food pantry, Cathedral Community Cares (CCC) at St. John the Divine, GED classes, ESL classes, St. Mary’s, and Broadway Presbyterian soup kitchen. We make weekly visits to these locations and do outreach to increase people’s awareness of and ability to access assistance programs that provide healthcare and promote healthy living. We also organize health fairs providing free health screenings such as HIV, blood pressure, cholesterol, cancer, etc., as well as other women, children, and infant services to the community at large free of charge.
