September is !

This celebration started back in 1987 in an effort to increase library card sign ups and combat illiteracy by encouraging more children to read. Since then, thousands of schools and libraries across the country have joined in on the efforts.

Stop by a local NYPL branch today and sign up for a library card! You'll be able to check out books in many different languages, get access to databases and professional/educational resources, and even get free tickets to over a hundred different museums and institutions across the city.

Attention all teens!

The application for the Teen Curators Program is now open! The New York Public Library invites NYC teens to apply to a stipend-based program to learn from the expert curators responsible for Declaring America: 1776 and Beyond, a sweeping exhibition currently on display in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, and create their own digital media projects. To apply, teens must be in the 11th or 12th grade and live or go to school in NYC. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a $600 stipend.

Fall Registration is open for English classes!

Do you know someone or are you someone who wants to learn English? The Fall registration for NYPL Adult English classes is now open! Classes will be held
from September 28 to December 18, 2026. In order to register, you will need to attend an information session, which will be held at different locations throughout Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island*. Click on the link in our bio for

*Please note that all Bronx locations and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library are Lottery-based only! For branches with the lottery system, you can only sign up for the lottery at ONE location. Space is limited, and not all that enter the lottery will be selected.
