At City Hall today, I placed a drone in NYC’s time capsule proof that innovation in public safety delivers real results. Critics said it wouldn’t work. Instead, drones helped apprehend violent offenders, rescued 40 swimmers this summer, and helped save over 200 kids who were found Subway suffering. Parents were shown video that helped intervene and get their children help.

We are heartbroken by the passing of Rabbi Alvin Kass, our beloved NYPD Chief Chaplain.

For nearly six decades, he gave the entire NYPD spiritual strength — regardless of faith or denomination. His wisdom, compassion, and calming presence carried us through some of our toughest trials.

It will be hard to imagine a ceremony without his familiar words and warm smile. His legacy will live forever in the heart of the NYPD.

May his memory be a blessing.
