Why do people of color always have to face austerity cuts in order to live a dignified life, while police budgets increase rise every year, even though crime has historically decreased for decades? HOLD CITY COUNCIL TO ACCOUNT FOR THE CRISIS! All eyes are on Corey Johnson, Mark Gjonaj, Carlina Rivera, Diana Ayala, Bill Perkins, and Stephen Levin to vote the bill out of Committee and send it to the Full-Floor for a vote -- which now has 22 out of 51 councilmembers on board -- but that may not mean much since most have adopted REBNY talking points calling for "other measures" or "it may not be legal" or "we need to give it to Albany" -- code words for watering it down/pretending they don't have jurisdiction. Significant is that the real estate industry calls the SBJSA "commercial rent control" when it is NOT.

THIS STORY OF THE SBJSA TRULY SHOWS THE ROLE OF CORRUPTIVE REAL ESTATE MONEY IN POLITICS -- highlighting how there are 2 camps of activists in this fight to pass the bill intact, mirroring the revolt between progressives and centrists in the Democratic Party.
