With a half-dozen competitive districts, New York has taken center stage in the fight for Congress, and Democratic organizers believe that registering a fraction of the tens of thousands of New Yorkers who own second homes could help tip a Republican majority to a Democratic one.

A group is pushing thousands of New Yorkers to vote from weekend homes in swing districts. Its pitch: “Your second home could determine the next speaker.”

Early-bird tickets now available for the 2024 Olmsted Network Annual Conference: The conference will take place on September 14-15 in Newburgh and Poughkeepsie.

During this first conference day, we’ll examine how park preservation can be a key to urban renewal. We’ll highlight creative programming ideas from other Olmsted parks, as well as ways communities can connect to the public through nature and history. We’ll also tour Downing Park and see other historic structures in Newburgh designed by Vaux and Downing.

A handful of discounted conference tickets are available to students.
