Our newest Groundmen: Zack & Braxton ⚡️

Zack and Braxton have both been working at NU in other positions over the past few years and are now making their transition to the electric department. Groundman is an important support role on the line crew, assisting with tasks like preparing materials and equipment, excavating and digging, and generally assisting linemen during construction and power outages.

We’re excited to watch Zack and Braxton grow on their new paths. 👏

TAUD's Wastewater Operator of the Year: Jim Denton 👏

Dina Gouge of Southeastern Tank nominated Jim for this Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD) award, saying:

"Jim has been with Newport [Utilities] for 9 years and was instrumental in helping his utility and their customers recover from Hurricane Helene in 2024. He manages a plant that treats 3 million gallons of sewage per day, with 75 miles of sewer lines, 42 pump stations, 1300+ manholes, and has managed his team through one of the worst disasters in the history of Newport. The plant was completely flooded; he led his team, prioritized public health and safety, delivered clear communication, and was an effective and dedicated leader. Jim is one you want on your team: hard-working, of high character, with his heart always in the right place. His team respects him and responds to his leadership."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Congratulations, Jim!
