Several states have “open primaries.” In those states all registered voters can vote in a primary not just the partisans.

We understand the hesitation from some (“but the other side will try to pick a losing candidate”) but there has been no evidence of that happening in the states that allow voting from all registered voters.

That said, they do end up with less extreme candidates.

Both sides don’t usually lie outright—but they do often mislead. Intentionally.

It’s not just one side—it’s a systemic part of how politics operates. Selective facts, missing context, and comparisons that don’t quite line up are often used not just to attack opponents, but to shape how their own supporters see an issue.

That means the audience being misled isn’t just “the other side”—it’s their own.

That’s not about what’s best for Americans. It’s about what’s best for their side.

So look deeper. Ask questions. Expect better.
