What a great addition to the amazing Nixa team! Welcome to the team Mr. Young, glad you are joining the Nixa family!

The City of Nixa is happy to announce the hiring of a new Assistant City Administrator.

Wesley Young will start on July 13th. He replaces Cindy Robbins, who is retiring after serving 37 and a half years with the city.

Young has spent more than 20 years serving communities through state and local government. He most recently served as the City Administrator for the City of Willard, Missouri.

Young holds a Master of Public Administration and is a Certified Public Manager. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor with the University of Arkansas, where he teaches Urban Politics.

“Most importantly, Wesley shares the values that guide everything we do here at City Hall — putting the citizens of Nixa first. I am confident that he will approach every challenge and every opportunity with that commitment at the center of his work,” Mayor Jarad Giddens.

Tomorrow is Election Day in Nixa — and it matters.

If you read my letter in this month’s city newsletter, you already know how deeply I believe in the power of local elections. Tomorrow, Nixa residents will have the opportunity to vote on city council seats, important ballot initiatives, and the office of Mayor.

I am truly humbled and honored to be running uncontested for another term as your Mayor. Serving this community is one of the greatest privileges of my life, and I do not take a single day of it for granted. I am excited and ready to continue the work we’ve started together for another three years.

But this isn’t just about my race — your vote tomorrow shapes your neighborhood, your streets, your schools, and your quality of life in a very direct and immediate way. No level of government is closer to home than local government.

So I’m asking you: please get out and vote tomorrow. Bring a neighbor. Bring a friend. Make your voice heard.

The picture on this post was from an evening that I had the opportunity to meet an individual who ran a successful campaign and gave me some great advice. “Sometimes you can’t make all of their wildest dreams come true but as long as you try, you would have my vote.” I also believe you can still have fun and be professional.

Nixa is a special place because of the people in it — let’s show up for it. 🗳️

There are people who wear a badge, and then there are people who wear it with their whole heart. Officer Tyler Duvall is the latter.

It is my honor, both as Mayor of Nixa and as someone who is proud to call Tyler a friend, to congratulate him on being named the 2025 Nixa Police Department Officer of the Year — an award given annually to the officer who best embodies the mission, vision, and values of our department.

The numbers alone tell an incredible story. In the past year, Officer Duvall handled 2,187 calls for service, conducted 744 traffic stops, made 93 arrests, and completed 230 reports — statistics that are astonishing. But if you know Tyler, you know the numbers are only half the picture.

He volunteers his time recruiting the next generation of officers at the Drury Law Enforcement Academy. He supports fleet inspections, attends community events, and recently took on the added responsibilities of Field Training Officer and Drone Pilot. He organized our department's Friday Night Lights Christmas event — and led the team to a first-place finish.

Beyond all of it, Tyler Duvall is an exceptional father, husband, son, neighbor, and friend. He treats every person he encounters with compassion and genuine care. He has put his life on the line for the citizens of Nixa more times than most will ever know, and he does it without hesitation — because that's just who he is.

Nixa is blessed and fortunate to have Officer Duvall protecting our community. I hope we all take a moment to reflect on the kind of person Tyler represents — someone who gives so much of himself so that others can feel safe, valued, and cared for.

Congratulations, Tyler. You have earned this, and this community is better because of you. 🇺🇸

Thank you Chief Campbell for your leadership and steadfast support of all our amazing officers.

Today, our community pauses to mourn the loss of two Christian County Sheriff's Deputies who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. As we lay these two heroes to rest, our hearts are heavy — but filled with deep gratitude for the courage and selflessness they demonstrated every single day they put on that badge.
To their families, their fellow deputies, and everyone who loved them — the City of Nixa stands with you. We grieve with you. And we honor them with you.
Today is a reminder to hold your loved ones a little closer. It is a reminder that the men and women of law enforcement walk out the door each day not knowing what that shift may bring, yet they do it anyway — for us, for our families, for our community. That kind of courage deserves our deepest respect and our unwavering support.
These two deputies will never be forgotten. Their sacrifice will forever be woven into the fabric of Christian County, and their legacy will continue to strengthen the bond between our community and the brave men and women who serve and protect us.
Rest easy, heroes. We've got it from here.
🖤 Jarad Giddens, Mayor — City of Nixa

Thank you Rep. Eric Burlison for honoring our heroes on the floor today. Everyone needs to know their stories, know the sacrifices they made, know the families they left behind, and fight for a change in our government to protect the citizens and our heroes from individuals that should be locked up. The time to change is now. The time to make a difference is now. God bless our first responders.
