Now that the election is over, I plan to keep this page active as a way for our community to communicate directly with me regarding hospital-related matters and my role as a Board Member for Nocona General Hospital.

I want people to know I am accessible, reachable, and willing to listen. Open communication matters, and I believe our community deserves board members who are engaged and approachable.

This page is not intended to be a place for negativity, personal attacks, or complaint-driven discussions. Instead, I hope it can serve as a respectful space for communication, sharing information, answering questions when appropriate, and helping connect concerns or ideas to the right places when they relate to my responsibilities as a board member.

Our hospital belongs to this community, and I want to continue being available to the people it serves.

Shawn Michael Patton, RN, CEN, TCRN

Shawn Patton is a registered nurse with 30+ years of experience in emergency services, trauma care, hospital operations, and healthcare leadership. He currently serves as a Board Member for Nocona General Hospital while continuing to work as a bedside Trauma/Emergency Room Registered Nurse at United Regional Health Care System, where he provides direct patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and remains closely connected to the day-to-day realities patients and staff face.

Throughout his career, Shawn has served in a wide range of roles including firefighter, EMS provider, trauma coordinator, trauma program manager, and healthcare leader, giving him a unique, system-wide understanding of healthcare—from prehospital emergency response through hospital treatment and recovery. He previously spent more than a decade in trauma leadership roles at Level 1, 2, and rural trauma centers, where he led quality improvement initiatives, emergency preparedness efforts, system development, and the implementation of life-saving clinical protocols.

Shawn is also a certified emergency and trauma nurse, educator, and instructor, teaching ACLS, BLS, TNCC, ATCN, and trauma-related courses. He has led regional Stop the Bleed initiatives benefiting schools, first responders, and community organizations. He has served on state and regional EMS and trauma advisory committees, including appointment to the Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council, and has held leadership positions within professional nursing and trauma organizations.

As a hospital board member and front-line emergency nurse, Shawn brings a practical, patient-centered perspective combined with trusted leadership experience. He understands the importance of patient safety, staff support, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and regulatory accountability, and believes community hospitals are strongest when decisions are guided by both real-world clinical experience and a deep commitment to the people they serve.
