Surface Line Week - Atlantic

Surface Line Week - Atlantic Held annually in Norfolk, VA, Surface Line Week brings Sailors and federal civilians together for friendly athletic and professional competitions.

Surface Line Week is a weeklong contest sponsored by Commander, Surface Force Atlantic. The annual competition, held each, is a marquee event on the Norfolk waterfront and features a series of activities dedicated to friendly competition in a variety of seamanship and sporting events.

Check out this cardboard boat race at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth

The Multi Corps Dining In Committee hosted a Cardboard Boat Regatta at the MWR Aquatics Center Sept. 22 where staff members raced their cardboard boat creations. Boats were required to only be composed with broken down cardboard boxes and duct tape. Boat entries could be up to a maximum of three feet in width and maximum of five feet in length with no maximum height requirement. Entries were only allowed to be single pilot operated with one adult crew member and could only be propelled by the pilot’s hands. Award categories included Outstanding Style, Outstanding Sinkability and Outstanding Speed. Photos by STG3 Paul Wu.

***IMPORTANT UPDATE***
Due to anticipated thunderstorms, the SLW closing picnic is being cancelled.

The events that will be cancelled are:
Tug of War, Kinetic Weapon Competition, Bean Bag Toss, Slider Competition and Picnic

**Navy Bean Soup will take place at D-29 (SURFLANT BLDG in COLE CONF RM) at 1100 (set-up completed by 1030).**

The close-out ceremony will take place at CEP-86 Auditorium immediately after Admiral Wilson concludes judging the Bean Soup competition. He will arrive at the auditorium from 1130-1145 and present the following awards:
1st - 3rd place finishers and MVS for each command category for Football, Softball, 5K, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer and the Keppler Award winners for toughness will be awarded and must be present at the ceremony. Keppler award winners will be announced SEPCOR later this afternoon upon receipt of final results.

Award recipients and everyone who is going to attend the award ceremony MUST be at the CEP Auditorium NLT 1100.

Uniform for the event will be NWU or equivalent.
