Today's the day. VOTE from 7AM–8PM. Remember, there's nothing stopping us from thinking creatively on ways we can improve Brayton. Let's just not build a $65 million school ($19.8 million of which we have to pay) when there are more sensible ways to invest in a brighter, more carbon-neutral future for our students!

We've seen this playbook before. Several years ago, Clarksburg voted down a $19 million school, a large portion of which would be paid for by the state. After voting to protect the members of the community on fixed incomes who would be disproportionately affected by the tax increases, Clarksburg borrowed $1 million for key infrastructure upgrades. Clarksburg School is still a top choice for North Adams Public School students—and it's not because of the building!

We reached out to some construction managers—including another who built a major league stadium and one who built hundreds of telecom stores across the country—about the $45 million Brayton renovation budget. The math just isn't mathing! Let's not forget who estimated those costs to begin with—the company incentivized to design a brand new school to completion! Let's think creatively about working with what we have—Brayton Elementary, which, all in all, could be an outstanding elementary school. Let's give it some love!

The ball fields near Greylock School will be destroyed in the name of a $65 million preK–2 school serving an estimated 240 students that will offer more pickleball courts for the community. Worth it?

Mayor Macksey and the School Committee received projected enrollment numbers from the Massachusetts School Building Authority in February of 2023, which projected 2030 K–6 enrollment to be 535 students—a 20% DROP WHEN COMPARED WITH 2021 ENROLLMENT NUMBERS. Why has this information been withheld until now??? The MSBA wants to know, too, and we await a response from Superintendent Malkas. Full information in our link in bio.

Check out the link in our bio to see a presentation of enrollment numbers that contradict the 2023 enrollment numbers acknowledged, but not released, by our administration. The further projected decline in enrollment raises serious concerns about the project's efficacy. Negligent at best, just one more reason to VOTE NO!
