Congratulations to our next All-Star DSP, Jacob Weiland of Northeast Developmental Services Inc. - NDSI. Jacob was nominated by Sean McClain, SSA for the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities. In his nomination of Jacob as an all-star, Sean wrote:
"Jacob has worked many hours at the home for two individuals we share in common. He treats them with kindness, respect, and he is a friendly person while upholding his responsibility to provide services outlined in the OISP. Jacob has built great relationships with the individuals he works with and he is always willing to help in any way that he can.
Jacob works with an individual who is in a wheelchair and the person can often get bored being at home after a while. When the individual is in a good mood, Jacob will take him for a car ride to wherever he wants to go to get him out of the house. These rides are a source of happiness and much appreciated!
Jacob never turns down an opportunity to help someone and gets excited for others. A lift is in progress for installation at the individual’s home, and Jacob is happy for the person's increased independence. He is eager to learn how to use the lift and asks questions to improve the lives of the individuals he works with. Jacob is always willing to learn new strategies to help the individuals he works with!
Jacob has great relationships with the people he works with. Jacob is very patient and calm, even in the most stressful situations. Jacob is not afraid to tell someone when they are doing something that may not be safe, but he explains why so the individual can learn from the experience. People respect that Jacob is blunt with them and they are comfortable to talk to him about anything. He is a great support!
