⛈️ SEVERE WEATHER ADVISORY – PLEASE STAY WEATHER AWARE ⛈️
North Chicago residents are encouraged to remain alert today as Lake County is currently under a Level 3 out of 5 risk for severe weather.
⚠️ The greatest potential for severe storms is between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with the strongest activity expected between approximately 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Severe storms may bring:
• 💨 Damaging straight-line winds that could exceed 80 mph
• 🌧️ Heavy rainfall and torrential downpours
• 🌊 Localized flash flooding
• 🌪️ The possibility of a few brief tornadoes
Because the ground is already saturated from the heavy rainfall received over the weekend, additional rain may increase the potential for flooding and fallen trees. Additional rounds of thunderstorms are also possible throughout the remainder of the week.
📱 Please stay weather aware. Keep your phone charged, make sure emergency alerts are enabled, secure loose outdoor items, and be prepared to move indoors or to a safe location if warnings are issued.
