Did you know we start distributing food for Thanksgiving the first week of November so families have time to plan their holiday meals well in advance? So if you’re hosting a Thanksgiving food drive, please start soon!
Planning ahead helps us make sure we have room to process, quality-check, and store your donation before it goes out. Because it is a busy time of year, we can only accept donations that have been scheduled in advance.
Not sure what to donate? Items to help our clients prep for holiday baking and cooking are greatly appreciated. Some favorites always in high demand include:
• Brown sugar
• Condiments (like chutneys, relish, crispy fried onions, mayonnaise, and mustard)
• Dried fruit
• Gravy (in a can, jar, or packet)
• Instant mashed potatoes
• Maple syrup
• Nuts (shelled or unshelled)
• Oatmeal (rolled oats, instant oatmeal, etc.)
• Olives
• Pickles
• Stuffing mix
• Vanilla Extract
• Vegetarian broth
• Hearty vegetarian soups
• Warm spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.)
Thanksgiving is a cherished tradition for many families, but when celebrations end, food insecurity remains a worry for many of our neighbors. Your donations ensure they have food not just for a single feast, but for the Friday after Thanksgiving and every day that follows.
