Official training for Book-lovers Bureau of Investigation, BBI, starts Tuesday for our new Kindergarten patrons. We hope they can uncover what has gone wrong and avoid these book atrocities themselves.

A note to all….water bottles and library books frequently cause great disturbance. Please keep them separated to keep the book peace!

Do you have one or more children ages 0-5 in Kansas? If so, are they receiving a free book every month in the mail addressed to them? That is what we call childhood magic.

Norton County is fully funded yet only approximately 44% of eligible children are enrolled! Phillips county is kicking our book tails!!!!

Things I learned today:
If multiple children are enrolled you will not receive 2, 3, etc copies of the same book - so enroll them all!
You can enroll from your couch!
Just 5 minutes of reading a day adds 1.4 million words to a child’s vocabulary during the 0-5 VITAL ages.
Dolly set systems in motion to ensure this project could last generations.
It goes beyond just a book- it gives kids shared experiences, opens doors for dialogue, and expands shared language and empathy

There is so much energy and excitement starting a new year. I love how books can communicate so much between their covers: kindness, social norms, emotional connections, etc etc etc.

First check outs happening along with friendly reminders to keep them clean, DRY, and most importantly READ. Healthy reading habits last a lifetime and really pay off in the long run.

What a joy to welcome the Class of 2030 to the Gardner library to discover all there is to offer in our media center! I hope they’ll each find joy/solace here often for the next four years.

Fun note: This was the last group I taught as a classroom teacher.
