Save the Date: Participate in the City of Norwalk's Transportation Master Plan Meeting and Open House on Tuesday, December 6! Mayor Rilling invites the community to participate in helping the City build our vision to enhance mobility for all modes of transportation, while addressing six key themes: equity, environment, safety, resiliency, technology, and transportation choice. The last Transportation Master Plan in Norwalk was completed in 2012.
In preparation for this meeting, over 1,000 participants have completed a project survey, and 750 pins have been placed on an interactive map to show areas of concern across the City. Concerns reflect frequent near-miss and crash locations, missing sidewalk links, and opportunities for better transit connectivity.
At the Transportation Master Plan meeting, the Transportation, Mobility and Parking (TMP) Department and FHI Studio, the consultant team, will present an ambitious draft plan that includes goals, strategies, and implementation steps to guide policy and project based on the feedback the City has received to date. The community will have the opportunity to speak directly with city staff and consultants to share their feedback.
The TMP team is seeking the community's input before drafting the Cityโs final Master Plan and presenting it in early 2023. The final version of the Master Plan will form the basis for transportation policy and investment over the next 10 to 20 years.
The event will take place in the Community Room at Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Avenue.
