Last night our officers discussed and sought direction from City Council on the topic of mini bikes in our community.

The council had its first reading of proposed ordinance changes that would prohibit the use of mini-bikes on city streets, sidewalks and parks.

Yesterday, we spoke with KMOV about the issues these mini-bikes have created related to everyone’s safety.

Leaders in O’Fallon, Mo. are taking a closer look at safety regulations for kids on motorized scooters, e-bikes and go carts

Officers responded to a call about a person firing a gun. Upon arrival, it was determined several people were inside a garage handling multiple guns. One person failed to make sure the gun was unloaded before pulling the trigger. The gun went off and the bullet traveled across the street, striking a neighbor’s garage door.

A registered s*x offender exposed himself to a female neighbor. The offender is on probation for s*xual misconduct involving a child, with similar circumstances to this case. He was arrested and charged with Sexual Misconduct 1st and issued a $10,000 cash only bond.

An elderly driver accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake, causing a head-on collision with another driver. Airbags deployed and one driver was transported to the hospital.

Graffiti was found on playground equipment of a school, possibly caused by juveniles operating mini bikes in the area over the weekend.

Officers assisted the O’Fallon Fire Protection District with a house fire determined to be caused by a lightning strike, several hours after the homeowner attempted to reset the circuit breaker. The home was condemned.

An officer stopped a driver for multiple moving traffic violations. The driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Revoked and during a search, drug paraphernalia and a powdery substance believed to be co***ne were found and taken for testing.

This morning, our officers, along with city council members, F3 groups and residents carried American flags more than 7 miles from the 9/11 Memorial in Winghaven to the Veterans Memorial Walk on TR Hughes Blvd.

There, Mayor Bill Hennessey and other council members led a Memorial Day service.

We honor and appreciate the service of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice today and everyday.

This morning, we received reports of a fawn in the road on Drennen Parkway. When our officers arrived, the fawn had run into the eastbound lanes of I-70. Amazingly, it wasn’t hit and laid down against the median, clearly terrified.

Our officers decided to try to safely get it off the interstate. Using a net, they got the fawn off the road and returned it to the wooded area in hopes its mother reunites with it.

Touching wildlife is rarely advisable, however in this case, our officers had no choice and took the most humane action, while trying to minimize risk to motorists.
