The 34th Annual Whidbey Island Challenge Series Downhill Challenge was a blast! We got some decent weather (close call) and saw some great racers. Huge shout out to the North Whidbey Island Sunrise Rotary for putting on another great racing event for children and youth with special needs. Tackling that Barrington Avenue hill is an adventure. We were glad to be a part of it and help tow the cars back uphill.

There's a reason we have our annual Employee Appreciation Picnic in mid-August: because coincides with National Bad Poetry Day! (Or maybe it's because the weather is virtually guaranteed to be beautiful.) Well in any case we got a great day and had a blast being together. In fact...

We gathered for corndogs and soda to sip
While tossing co****le bags with excellent zip
Then we got shaved ice, all frosty and sweet
And together we called it a picnic complete

Having a great day out here at the 5th annual collaborative golf tournament Whidbey Golf Club! Pretty sure we’re the best dressed team out here. Shout out to our designated hole heckler Mo Morrison dishing out the blistering commentary at hole #1. 🏌️⛳️

Had a great time at the Oak Bowl & Mario's Pizza Battle of the Businesses bowling tournament! New Leaf finished in second place. It was a ton a fun. Congrats to John and Keith G. of the Commissary, Mitch of the Galley, and Keith H. and Mike "Hammer" of Grounds on their great showing!

One more look at America’s semiquincentennial (AKA sestercentennial, AKA bisesquincentennial) at our local level: here is our hardworking CDC janitorial crew sporting their USA250 buttons. Every night they clean the Childhood Development Centers at Naval Air Station - Whidbey Island and get the facilities ready before students and faculty show up in the morning. One small part of what makes America work!

USA 250! Here is the New Leaf commissary crew in formation with their SourceAmerica USA 250 pins and a carefully arranged product display. Every night this team works hard to get the Whidbey Island commissary cleaned and stocked for the next day, doing their small part to keep America running.

Huge congratulations to our daytime janitorial supervisor Kassie Kast for receiving this heartfelt commemoration of excellent service from NASWI ASTC. Kind words of appreciation and recognition of commitment to one’s job — this is at the heart of New Leaf’s values. We are so proud of Kassi and thankful to our wonderful Navy customers!
