Every six years, North Whidbey Pool, Park, & Recreation District (NWPPRD) residents vote on whether to approve funding for the district. In the past, the district faced financial challenges, including a failed levy that led to the pool’s closure. Currently, NWPPRD receives $0.20 per $1000assessed property value. Without essential funding for NWPPRD, operations grind to a halt, leaving the communit
y without vital recreational resources. Adversity often breeds innovation, and from this setback emerged a determined volunteer committee. As NWPPRD engaged with various stakeholders, the committee discovered a deeper need within the community: not just to reopen the pool, but to establish stable funding to prevent future closures. This realization became the catalyst for change, propelling the NWPPRD toward a future where resilience and sustainability are at the forefront of its mission. Since 2020, the current NWPPRD has introduced kickball, pickleball classes, day camp, kayaking classes, trips, and a basketball league. These are a few examples of the various NWPPRD programs. We hope to have your continued support to VOTE YES for NWPPRD! Your vote will help provide stable funding for facilities, services, and programs, better aligning with the community’s needs.
