Due to possible road conditions with this winter storm coming Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Allen Council on Aging will be closed. Transportation and home delivered meals will be shut down. We will be monitoring road conditions for Wednesday, January 22, 2025 to determine if it is safe for travel and will keep the public updated. Please be safe and avoid traveling if possible.

Allen Council on Aging is currently conducting its annual membership drive for the agency and will close January 30th, 2025. Membership is open, without restrictions to the residents of Allen Parish who have reached the age of majority. Membership applications are available at the ACOA Main Office located at 602 E 5th Ave, Oakdale and at the Allen Parish Senior Center, 314 S 6th St, Oberlin. All members and the public are invited to attend the Annual Membership Meeting that will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the Allen Parish Senior Center, 314 S 6th St, Oberlin. The Annual Membership Meeting of the Allen Council on Aging is held every year for the purpose of nominating and electing Board Members; accepting the Annual Report; and conducting any other business that may arise. If Transportation is needed, please call 1-800-256-2851.

We had a great time at the Annual Senior Day at the Fair event. Thank you to everyone that came out. Special thank you to Doug Hebert and the Allen Parish Sheriff Department for all they do and the amazing food. Thank you to the Allen Parish Queens that came out and helped today, the vendors, to each business that donated door prizes to our event. A special shout out to Barksdale Federal Credit Union for the abundance of donations and DJ Mekhanik for setting up at the last minute.

Allen Council on Aging will be closed tomorrow September 11, 2024 due to the impending weather from Hurricane Francine. There will be no meal delivery Wednesday or Thursday. The office will be open Thursday as long as road conditions allow.
