Hi Mosswood Rec - This 14 lbs dog, microchipped and spayed was lost near Mosswood - She lives at 36th/Webster. She wasn't wearing her collar when she escaped. If seen please call. Thank you!!!
What if Mosswood Park was the new home to the Piedmont Avenue Branch of the Oakland Public Library, and the site combined a library, a rec center with showers, an art & maker lab, a computer lab, a really nice restroom, & a bike parking/repair station? Wouldn't that be cool? What other ideas would make it even better?
Golden Gate Recreation Center is currently starting a Girl's Indoor Soccer League. Ages:9-12 and season starts April 15th. We would love if Mosswood had a team to participate. SIGN UP TODAY!! 8/24/17...always wanted to see the Moss Wood Mansion. It was a real shock, the mansion is decaying, front steps rotting, people tagging grafitti all over the house. Trash, cigarettes and homeless people with no more to go.I touched the knob of the door to have some connection to the past. Craftsmen built this landmark Mansion, people were born in it, lived and died in it. It is in such sorry disrepair. People smoking right near it, it wouldn't take much to set it aflame. Very sad. The recreation center burned down so no way to go there. The dog parks are gone. I am not sure what is going on except that Oakland always says, not a granny from the Depression, "We just don't have the money. Oakland Heritage would like to save the house, rehab it lovingly and make it alive again with nonprofit and other businesses in the house. For now,it is a closed up forgotten house, time has forgotten this house.it is part of Oakland's history and needs to be saved.
I spent most of my waking hours at Mosswood Park in the late 50s. I can remember one lady that worked there and her name was Betty Price. I am now 77 and miss the good times at Mosswood.
