Family Builders 2021 PRIDE for Youth

Give Out today to support LGBTQ+ Youth

Le***an, gay, bis*xual, transgender, q***r and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth in foster care need what every youth and child needs: caring, committed, accepting and loving families.

Family Builders Youth Acceptance Project (YAP) helps families affirm and embrace their children of every s*xual orientation, gender identity and expression.

LGBTQ+ children and youth represent 20-35% of youth in foster care and are eight times more likely to have attempted su***de than other youth.

YAP helps family members and caregivers provide the love and acceptance that every child needs.

Give Out today to celebrate Pride 2021: supporting LGBTQ+ youth and their families with a gift to the Family Builders Youth Acceptance Project.

Family Builders Stands with LGBTQ Families

The Supreme Court announced their decision in the case Fulton v. City of Philadelphia today. The narrow decision only applies to this case. It leaves existing law largely unchanged and creates no sweeping new religious exemption.

Family Builders has supported, affirmed and welcomed LGBTQ families as prospective parents for children and youth in foster care for over 25 years. Neither this decision, nor any subsequent decisions will change this for Family Builders.

The LGBTQ community is an integral part of Family Builders’ mission. Same s*x couples are seven times more likely to be raising adopted or foster children than their different-s*x counterparts (source: Williams Institute, UCLA School of Law ).

Family Builders’ message to LGBTQ people who long to be parents is Yes, you can still adopt a child. Family Builders is here to help make your dream possible.

Family Builders' mission is to create permanent families for children and youth in the foster care system, with the goal that no child leaves the foster care system without a permanent, loving and caring parent. Family Builders welcomes, affirms and greatly values families from the LGBTQ community.

Family Builders’ core programs, foster care and foster to adopt focuses on guiding families through the foster care and adoption process to meet both the short term needs of children who are in foster care, as well as those that need permanent families

Black History Month 2021: Virtual events, performances and more ways to celebrate in the Bay Area

February is Black History Month - an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. We have seen immense growth in the awareness and development of the Black Lives Matter movement over the past year, which arose through massive and widespread protests and civilian acts of resistance and solidarity, even as COVID-19 raged around the world.

This year’s Black History Month has more gravity and significance than ever, and is a time for all of us to look inward, asking what each of us can do to better confront racism and inequality.

There are many ways to celebrate Black History Month! Check out how some Bay Area organizations and arts institutions plan to celebrate Black History Month this year, and how you can participate in celebrating the many important achievements and accomplishments of African Americans throughout history:
